Tryouts in My View

It all started with tryouts for a cheer team called East Texas All Stars or ETAS. We arrived in a parking-lot with multiple attached buildings with my hands sweating and my stomach filled with billions of butterflies. I walked through a red, rustic, old door and saw what looked like a million people staring at me, but there were only a few people there and they were all in bunches talking with one another. Then I walked over to a bunch of people that I knew. They were my friends from school! I was so relieved. then the tryouts actually started. The flyers were trying-out for the flyers position. Everybody was called to do standing and running tumbling for the coaches to decide who’s going to make it. Soon, tryouts were over and the head coach, Julie, said you’ll get the results in a few days. A couple of days later we got the email, I made the team of Bling! I was so exited that I made my fisrst cheer team!

Child Labor

Summary-The first story was about 16-18 year old girls who had to work for 12-14 hours like their parents did. About 4 girls would stay in a locked room and work for hours and hours working with mill machines that one of them would soon catch on fire and lead some girls to jump out the window to death, and some would burn in flames. There was originally 500 workers there, but 146 died in total.

Summary– The second story was about a interviewer going back in history to 1911 and asking some children workers about how child labor felt to them and how their actual job was like. Also, the interviewer was asking economically wise and their personal life at home.

How Child Labor Felt To Me– The two stories made me feel sad about how the children were getting treated and how the owners didn’t care what and if a child’s life was in danger they just wanted to be rich. Now, that really bothers me a lot! Economic wise… the children was put through tiny holes and other tiny places that adults couldn’t go through, yet the children get paid half of what an adult got paid. Also, they shouldn’t have cut short a whole hours worth of work because they’re a minute late. One more thing, you shouldn’t lock children in a room to do work. They should have just believe the children. You never know until you see an actual child sneak out. Any way, that’s my opinion on child labor and I’m glad it stopped because I think child labor is WRONG!!
